Smash Mouth Bowl Week 2010 Nov. 29 - Dec. 5, Believe in the Hype!
The Pittsburgh Steelers were granted an early Christmas gift at the hands of Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson when he dropped a 40-yard touchdown pass in OT that hit him square in the hands, and would've given the Bills the upset victory over visiting Pittsburgh. The football gods would not let that happen and the Steelers won the game on a field goal to escape Buffalo with a19-16 victory yesterday afternoon.
Johnson said "I had the game in my hands and I dropped it."
Then, growing emotional, Johnson added: "I'll never get over it. Ever."
Pittsburgh now 8-3 on the season can get ready for the much anticipated, much hyped, AFC North showdown with the Baltimore Ravens in a game that is being billed as the "Smash Mouth Bowl 2010".
Baltimore (8-3) did their part when they beat the up-start Tampa Bay Buccaneers yesterday 17-10. The Bucs were over-matched by the physical Ravens defense that has gotten better since the return of future hall-of-fame safety Ed Reed.
Joe Flacco was very steady for the Ravens. He was 25-35 for 289 yards. He also threw 2 touchdowns. One was a 65-yard pass to tight-end Todd Heap.
Flacco became the Ravens all-time franchise leader with 53 touchdown passes moving ahead of former Ravens quarterback Vinny Testaverde who threw 51 TD's as a member of the team.
Ray Rice ended the game smash-mouth style by running for 2 first downs with 2:30 minutes left in the game to seal the win. Rice had 85 yards on 20 carries.
The stage is now set for the Sunday Night prime time event at Baltimore's M & T stadium. Lights, camera, action. Get your popcorn ready. Starting Monday morning November 29th is the beginning of "Smash Mouth Bowl Week" in Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
There will be quotes from both sides, and from fans as they count down the days to the most intense game of the season the Smash Mouth Bowl 2010 on Smash Mouth Bowl Sunday 2010
