So Far, So Good for Americans and Olympic Basketball by Joe Hachem

After two decisive wins, the U.S. basketball team looks like they’re on their way to fulfilling the dream that has bee nothing short of a nightmare for the past eight years. Much of the credit has to go to Chris Paul, LeBron James and Deron Williams.

The point guards in particular have been outstanding, proving decisively that they are the future of the NBA by controlling the tempo of every minute they remain on the floor.

The argument against the U.S., however, remains that they have only played Angola and China. While the host country put up a valiant fight, Angola was a mess. I didn’t even know Angola had a basketball team to speak of until I flicked on ESPN this morning!

However China managed to give Spain quite the scare before losing 85-75 in an exciting overtime game. The Gasols (Marc and Pau) were brilliant as they seized control over the game, making life miserable for the diminutive Chinese guards.

Jose Calderon, the new starting point man for the Toronto Raptors, has been fantastic on the floor while showing off his high basketball IQ with his Spanish teammates.

However, the true question here is whether Spain can withstand Team U.S.A. The Spaniards head in to their Wednesday matchup as 15-point favorites to hound Nowitski and the Germans who fell to Greece.

Spain has the talent and depth to encourage the betting community to side with them against Germany on the spread. Germany is becoming a victim of their own inability to be efficient.

Greece’s tenacity has made them an intriguing opponent for the boys in red, white and blue. They’re being described as a smash-mouth team, and that may prove to be a challenge for Team U.S.A. Greece is a patient, resilient and intelligent team that is strong enough to slow down the game and make a 22-point spread very attractive.

I actually like Greece to cover against the U.S. in that game. To me, it’s just not a game that the U.S. can win in a blowout.

Australia faces a tough test against Iran. However, Andrew Bogut has resurrected his reputation as a strong basketball player by proving he thrives in international play. Expect the boys from down under to hammer Iran and cover a massive 23-point line.

China, meanwhile, will gain a ton of momentum from their near-win against Spain heading in to an uninspiring game against Angola who showed little to nothing against the Americans.

Expect the homegrown Chinese to throttle Angola en route to demolishing a -13.5 point line for them currently.

Let’s get you profiting off these Olympic ball matchups so we can really build your bankroll as we head in to the NFL betting season!
