Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat

Watch Live Score

Sri Lanka's captain Tillakaratne Dilshan won the toss and chose to bat first against Australia as the hosts sought to make a 2-0 sweep of the Twenty20 matches in Pallekele. The Sri Lankans made two changes to the side, bringing in Thisara Perera and the mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis at the expense of seamers Suranga Lakmal and Dhammika Prasad.

Mendis' inclusion further bolsters the Sri Lankan spin attack that caused so many problems for the Australians in the tour opener. By contrast, Australia's captain Cameron White named an unchanged XI, meaning he will have to better utilise the same resources.

The batsman Aaron Finch will go home having not played a match, while the other surplus player James Pattinson is staying on as part of the squad for the longer form matches.

The Australian team will need to show greater cohesion and awareness of the conditions. Of the pace bowlers Mitchell Johnson needs to show greater consistency, while Steve O'Keefe and Steven Smith can expect to be more central to White's plans than they were in game one, when neither completed his full quota of overs. The occasional offspin of David Hussey may also be considered.
