The Tiger Woods-Steve Williams Partnership Is Over After the Golfer Split With His Longtime Caddie

Tiger Woods fired his caddy Steve Williams after more than a decade of working together.

On Wednesday, July 2011, Tiger Woods posted a message on his website stating that he and Steve Williams have parted ways.

Steve Williams wrote on his website:

"After 13 years of loyal service needless to say this came as a shock. Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger's scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing change and Tiger battling through injuries, I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time."

The firing of Steve Williams marks the latest departure from Tiger Woods' inner circle. He famously divorced wife Elin Nordegren, parted ways with swing coach Hank Haney, and left the IMG management group.

What Happened Between Tiger Woods and Steve Williams?

It's hard to say, but it looks like the Steve Williams-Tiger Woods split was a long time coming.

Rumors of a split between the two moved to a front burner last year, after Woods returned to competition following the five-month self-imposed seclusion in the wake of his sex scandal. The body language between Woods and Williams was dreadful at last year's U.S. Open at Pebble Beach -- the two often walking 40 yards apart and rarely talking. Still, the move seemed to catch Williams by surprise.

It feels terrible after associating with someone for 13 years and splitting on an awkward note. I'm not sure how exactly it works, but the moment these information goes to public, it seems like a big deal. Yes! Public image matters for most of us and not only for these famous personalities. It will continue and perhaps will never stop. All the best Tiger and respected Steve Williams
