American golfer Steve Stricker claimed the title and over a million dollars in prize money at the PGA Tour Crowne Plaza Invitational at the Colonial Country Club with a 'sudden-death' playoff win over Tim Clark of South Africa and Steve Morino of the United States on Sunday.
Steve Stricker clinched victory at the Crowne Plaza Invitational following a three-way sudden death play-off.
Stricker won with a birdie at the second extra hole after finishing tied at 17 under with fellow American Steve Marino and South African Tim Clark.
"I've had a lot of close calls this year and I finally pulled one out," said Stricker, who pocketed 1.116 dollars million for the win. "It is a struggle to win out here. There are a lot of thoughts and emotions going through your mind and it is tough to get a 'W'. I've put in a lot of time, worked hard at it and it paid off."
