Summer Bird Wins Belmont Stakes 2009
Summer Bird wins the Belmont Stakes 2009 and pushed in front to win with just a few hundred metres left to go in the race. The official time was 2 minutes and 27.54 seconds.
The biggest challenges were Dunkirk and Mine That Bird but they couldn't outrun Summer Bird this year.
Dunkirk came second with Mine That Bird third, denying jockey Calvin Borel his personal Triple Crown win. Mine that Bird was the favourite at 6 to 5 odds.
Summer Bird was also sired by 2004 Belmont winner Birdstone, just like Mine That Bird.

It's interesting that Summer Bird is related to Mine that Bird ... all in the Bird's family, so to speak ;-)

Ahhhh no animal is as magnificent as
a well groomed beautiful horse. I watched some of this and got chills seeing them before, during and after.
I rode a beautiful snow white horse when I was a rodeo queen. We had palominos on our ranch. My favorite color thos is the reddish browns.
Great video Amy!
