Syracuse fired assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine, the longest-serving assistant coach in NCAA Division 1 history, in the wake of child-molestation charges leveled against him.

Stepbrothers Bobby Davis and Mike Lang had earlier gone public in their accusations against Bernie Fine; since then, another man has come forward. Davis recorded a phone call with Laurie Fine, Bernie Fine's wife; he said that she witnessed his abuse at the hands of her husband.

The current probe comes six years after the university conducted its own investigation after hearing of the allegations in 2005. After a four-month investigation, launched after local police declined to open their own probe, the university was unable to corroborate the claims.

Fine had previously been placed on administrative leave.
