Australia vs Sri Lanka World T20 2nd Innings Extended Highlights PART 1 *High Quality*

Australia knocked out by Sri Lanka
Ahhhh..thats very sad for australia team that a world champions are knocked out in first round.

Australia will have plenty of time to work on their preparations for the Ashes after they were dumped out of the World Twenty20 on Monday by a rampant Sri Lanka. It was a grim day for Ricky Ponting, their captain, and particularly for strike bowler Brett Lee, whose figures took a pounding for the second consecutive game.

Ireland qualify for World Twenty20 Super Eights after victory over Bangladesh

Bangladesh 137-8 (20 overs)
Ireland 138-4 (18.2 overs)
Ireland win by six wickets

Same with Bangladesh team they are the trump card in This world cup but they are out in first round.

Best of Luck For Ireland...Hope they will show some more good cricket....

Irish cricket continues to live a precarious existence, but give their eager troubadours the whiff of a major one-day competition and they spring to life. Anything is deemed possible, since their defeat of Pakistan in the 2007 World Cup constituted one of the biggest shocks in one-day cricket history, and they were at it again at Trent Bridge, overcoming Bangladesh by six wickets with eight balls to spare to clinch a place in the World Twenty20 Super Eights at their opponents' expense.

Now Its Time For Pakistan Will They Will go in Super 8 or they will go home...Stay with my news will let you know...more updates as they occured....Enjoy Cricket...

Update 10 Th June 2009:

Holland Knocked Out Of World Twenty20
They may have beaten England, but Holland's participation in the World Twenty20 came to a premature end as they were thrashed by Pakistan at Lord's. L billboard sport generic cricket

Batting first, Pakistan scored 175. Kamran Akmal made 41, with skipper Younis Khan adding a quickfire 36 off 20 balls.

That left the Dutch, who got the tournament off to a shock start with their victory over the hosts, needing 151 to make it into the Super Eight stage on net run rate.

But their batsmen could not repeat their heroics of Friday night as they were skittled out for just 93, opener Alexei Kervezee top scoring with 21.

Shahid Afridi took four wickets for just 11 runs and Akmal completed four stumpings as Pakistan cruised into the last eight.

Despite elimination, Dutch captain Jeroen Smits was proud of his side.

"It's a privilege to be here, and unfortunately we didn't make it to the Super Eights." He told Sky Sports.

"But I think we made an impact on Friday night! (against England)".

In Tuesday's second match, South Africa beat New Zealand by one run.

South Africa managed to score just 128, but New Zealand were stifled by the South Africa bowling and fell just short.

South Africa seal low-scoring thriller: Top in there Group...

South Africa's bowlers, led by the unhittable spin of Roelof van der Merwe, pulled an improbable victory out of the jaws of defeat as they successfully defended a meagre target of 129 and snuck home by a solitary run to secure the Group D bragging rights in a scrappy but compelling dead-rubber tussle at Lord's.

At the halfway mark of the match, it seemed there could be only one winner, after South Africa had squandered a platform of 47 for 0 after their Powerplay overs to dribble to a disappointing 20-over total of 128 for 7. But New Zealand's response never emerged from second gear. A 54-ball 57 from Brendon McCullum set the platform, but his team-mates failed to dive in, and bizarrely they ran out of steam with six wickets still standing.

The bulk of the credit belonged to van der Merwe, who put a momentum-squandering six-ball duck behind him to concede a mere 14 runs from his four overs, as well as capturing both of New Zealand's dangermen. McCullum was stumped by a distance as he gave the charge and missed, while Ross Taylor swished flat-footedly and was bowled for 22 from 31 balls, a peculiarly ponderous innings that was compounded by a tweaked hamstring that hampered his mobility in the second half of his knock.

McCullum had begun his innings with typical belligerence, cracking three fours from his first seven deliveries as New Zealand put 19 on the ball in just two overs. But at the other end, his support was in short supply. Martin Guptill miscued Dale Steyn to mid-on for 5 before Neil Broom was caught and bowled by a lunging Jacques Kallis for 1, and at the end of the Powerplays, New Zealand had slipped to a sluggish 35 for 2.

After the French Open, This tournament has again proved that past reputation and favorite status has nothing to do with winning. Its the performance on that particular day which counts.

We are in for a great tournament ahead! Expect more upsets along the way!

Sri Lanka Army news

The English press reacted with glee Tuesday to news that Ricky Ponting’s <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />Australiateam was knocked out of the World Twenty20, ahead of next month’s Ashes series between the two countries.

“Even Ireland make the Super 8s but Ricky’s boys crash out as wallybies,” said the Sun tabloid, reflecting a surprising day for the tournament that saw mighty Australia dumped but Ireland stay in after beating Bangladesh.

“What do you call an Aussie at the Twenty20? A spectator,” joked the Daily Mirror, after what was Australia’s fifth successive Twenty20 defeat.

One commentator wrote: “Since they touched down in England 12 days ago, Australia’s tour has gone exactly according to plan... England’s plan.”
