T20 World Cup 2012 India vs South Africa Live Cricket Score
With all four Group 2 teams still alive in the tournament, here is how the odds are stacked for India to advance to the last four of the World Twenty20.
India's encounter against South Africa is a must win clash for the 2007 champions. A win will keep their hopes alive depending on Pakistan's result against Australia in the first match of the day.
A win for the arch-rivals would mean the margins of the victories would decide who progresses to the semis.
With Australia having won both their Super Eights clashes so far, they are almost through to the semi-final courtesy their huge margin of victories.
However, if on Tuesday both India and Pakistan manage to register wins by almost 40 runs, the team from Down Under could well be eliminated.
A loss for Pakistan and a win against the Proteas will see India join Australia in the last four. However, if India are to lose by more than three runs or fail to post 160 on the board, they fall below South Africa on the standings.
Pakistan, meanwhile, will rue losing to India as the margin of loss has dented their chances of making it to the semis. With a run-rate only marginally better than that of India and South Africa, Pakistan not only have to win their clash against Australia but will have to hope that South Africa beat India by more than 10 runs.
A Pakistan win will also throw South Africa out of semis contention as they have lost both their Super Eights clashes. But if Australia defeat Pakistan, all South Africa has to do is post 160 on the board and beat India by more than three runs as a better run-rate will see them through to the last four.
