Taylor Pyatt's fiancee Carly Bragnalo killed in car crash

Vancouver Canucks forward Taylor Pyatt's fiancee Carly Bragnalo, 27, was killed in a car crash in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on April 2.
Taylor Pyatt had an assist in a game against the Anaheim Ducks in a losing effort. Pyatt has left the team and returned home to his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The couple planned to marry this summer.

Canucks general manager Mike Gillis went on to say: “Today the Canucks lost a member of our family. Carly was a lovely and generous young woman who shared her spirit for life with our players, their spouses and their extended families. We will support the Bragnalo family, Taylor and his entire family in any way we can during this very difficult time.”

Carly Bragnalo was part of a group of six that was travelling from Black River to Treasure Beach in a Toyota Corolla where the car spun out of control onto a curve and struck a concrete lamp post before flipping. It is believe that she was thrown out of the car window and pronounced dead at Black River Hospital. She was on her annual family trip to Jamaica.

Pyatt and Bragnalo had been together for 11 years and was planning to marry this summer in an outdoor ceremony on an island in Lake Superior.

Captain Roberto Luongo had these words:

"It's really tough. Everyone feels really terrible in here. Our thoughts and prayers are with Taylor and his family as well as Carly's family," said team captain Roberto Luongo. Yes, I met Carly. She was a really joyful person who was high on life. Taylor loved her so much. It's not an easy day."

Teammate Shane O'Brien said:

Pyatt's dressing-room neighbour Shane O'Brien said: "We all love 'Pysie' in here and we're all thinking about him. It's just a terrible thing but, hopefully, he can get through it. Anything he needs, he's got 20-plus guys that will go through the wall for him. We'll get through this as a family."
