Team Canada has defeated Team Switzerland with a 3-2 overtime shootout in Men's Olympic Hockey. It was a nail-biter for the Canadians, who were shut out by the Swiss four years ago in Turin, but were saved by Canadian captain Sidney Crosby.

The Canadians were up 2-0 in the second period with goals from Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau before the Swiss began putting on the pressure. Two goals by Ivo Ruthemann and Patrick von Gunten, and the game was knotted up 2-2.

Even though the Canadians dominated offensively, doubling the Swiss team's shots on gaol 46-23, the game was pushed into overtime, where neither team could find the winning goal.

Finally, a shootout commenced where a goal by Crosby and four saves by Martin Brodeur sealed the victory for the Canadians, and fans across Canada let out a deep sigh of relief.
