The new Olympic jersey design for Canada's hockey teams will be unveiled at 1 PM PST at the UBC Thunderbird Arena today. Photos of the new jersey have emerged online, but it could not be verified if the source was trustable. It is expected that the new jersey will feature a maple leaf and an inukshuk. The old hockey player symbol on the front of the jerseys is likely to go away.

Several online sources report that the new togs will be red with white stripes on the arms and feature a large Maple Leaf with ‘Canada’ in block letters written below. The Maple Leaf consists of faint artwork of animals, such as whales, and other aboriginal designs.

Hockey Canada was forced to abandon its traditional logo — which is a red and black Maple Leaf with the silhouette of a hockey player in the middle — after the International Olympic Committee announced it would enforce a long-standing rule of not allowing national federation logos on the front of Olympic uniforms.

The final design was Hockey Canada's fifth attempt at finding a compromise to the IOC's rule.
