Tennesse Titans quarterback Chris Simms busted for pot possession early Thursday morning the New York Post is reporting.

Simms, 29, of Nashville, was stopped while driving his 2009 Mercedes Benz through an NYPD Manhattan South Task Force checkpoint on W. Houston Street at 1:35 a.m., according to a source.

Simms reeked of marijuana and admitted to officers he had smoked earlier in the car, a source said.

He also had red eyes, flushed face and slurred speech, sources added.



His father, Phil Simms is a TV analyst for CBS and a former Superbowl MVP. Chris Simms is a back-up quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. Chris Simms was a a 3rd 2003 pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The 28-year-old Simms played three games for Denver last season, starting one. He signed with the Titans on April 12. He is competing with Kerry Collins(notes) and Rusty Smith(notes) for a reserve role with Tennessee.
