Three Top Palestinian Soccer Players Killed In Last 72 Hours
Three Palestinian soccer players have been killed in the last 72 hours by Israeli forces.
The football players were killed by bombing raids while in their own homes. The most prominent player was Palestinian national team member Ayman al-Kurd, who was killed alongside his three children.
"His martyrdom is a great loss to Palestinian football. His colleagues are in shock," Ghassan Balawi, a former coach of the Palestinian soccer team, told Reuters in Ramallah.
In addition, Shadi Sbakhe, who played for Khadamat Alniserat of the Palestine League, and Ittihad Alshojaeya's Wajeh Moshtahe perished in the attacks.
Gaza's Rafah Stadium, the home field of one of Palestine League's best team, appears to have been seriously damaged during the military operation.
According to FIFA World Rankings, the Palestinian national football team ranks 180 out of 207 countries.
