Tiger Woods Hires Ari Fleischer for PR Overhaul
Tiger Woods Hires Ari Fleischer for PR Rescue
Tiger Woods has hired Ari Fleischer to help him with his sizeable PR issues. Ari Fleischer, former press secretary for the George W. Bush Administration, now runs Ari Fleischer Sports Communications.
Ari Fleischer's sports PR firm is a joint venture with Tiger Woods' management company, IMG.
Ari Fleischer is Definitely Experienced
No stranger to facing the public on behalf of unpopular men, Ari Fleischer also represented Mark McGwire, who recently admitted to steroid use. WIth that in mind, it's safe to say that Tiger Woods is in experienced hands when he next appears before the public, either at the Arnold Palmer Invitational beginning on March 22, or at some point thereafter.
Should Ari Fleischer not have been available, James "it's the economy, stupid" Carville, Bill Clinton's campaign mastermind, would have also been a good choice, and not only because he looks sort of like Duke from Doonesbury- James Carville engineered the major upset of a sitting president in a US election.
Considering Bush's own public image, perhaps Carville should have been the first choice: don't think solid defense; think killer offense. The goal is to make Tiger the good guy again, and not simply to make him less of a bad guy.
Tiger Woods has been in the public doghouse for the past several months, after a series of extramarital affairs came to light, culminating in a car accident and allegations that his wife, Elin Nordegren beat him with a golf club.
The firm, which focuses on crisis response and control, is a joint venture with IMG Sports & Entertainment. Woods is represented by IMG.

Ari Fleischer is a curious choice. Who believes anything he says? His name is an anagram for "I relish farce" ... he might enjoy the job, but I doubt anything he says could be convincing.
