UTEP head coach Tim Floyd had a bit of a meltdown during his team's loss to East Carolina on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Tim Floyd was so upset that he was ejected from the game and had to be escorted off the court by police.
The Tim Floyd meltdown occurred after his UTEP Miners were subjected to a litany of technical fouls. Early in the second half, Tim Floyd freaked out and threw his jacket on the floor. After getting thrown out of the game, Floyd got into the ref's face. Floyd was so upset that police in attendance escorted him off the court.
After the game, the former Chicago Bulls head coach talked about his meltdown:
“I think it was a coaching box violation. I had my big toe out of the box, received a warning, turned my back and walked to the bench and got a technical. I’d never seen him [the official who issued all the technicals] before and I don’t know who he is. I’ve always earned my technicals and I didn’t feel like I earned it.”
Tim Floyd has a history of being a peacemaker not a fighter. Last year, Tim Floyd helped break up a fight in a casino and the whole thing was caught on video.
