It's no secret that Florida quarterback Tim Tebow is a devout Christian. One way that Tim Tebow expresses his spirituality is by wearing eye black with Bible passages written on them. During the Nov. 28 Florida vs Florida State game, Tim Tebow wore eye black with the message 'Heb 12 1-2" on them.

So what does Heb 12 1-2 mean? It appears to be a reference to a Bible passage.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I think it might be Heb. 12:12"Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble."

Judging by close-ups of Tebow during the Florida-Florida State game, there appears to be a clear dash between the second 1 and 2, which would indicate that he is referring to Hebrews: 12 1-2. This writer thinks that Hebrews 12: 1-2 provides guidance on how be a winner

I believe it is 12:1-2 as well, he usually doesn't make statesments that point to his performance on the field.

The correct bible verse is Heb 12:1-2. Praise God. Tebow gives all the glory to God. If you saw his interview after the game on the field. He acknowledged God and it is God who gives strength to those who have faith in him. What an awesome living testimony of a young athlete who is not afraid or ashamed to share it. His worst battle is not on the field but those who will persecute him for those beliefs off the field. That is why when you strip yourself of ALL things that hinder and only focus on things you believe you are left with nothing to conquer because you have won before you have even started.

It is 1-2, but it should be Heb 12:14...but it probably wouldn't fly in such a violent sport.  I think Tebow gets way too much credit.  Who persecutes him?  Why would he be afraid or ashamed to share his beliefs?  He is a stand up guy, a good leader, and a decent football player...but not quite ready for sainthood.  Is he going to avoid the NFL because they play on Sundays?  That would be real courage.

This WORD point out that only a few can see what this really means...those that see this message keep perseving fixing our eyes on the author and perfector of our Faith and his name is JESUS.  Not too many know him and it's an honoro to know HIM, my Lord and savior who rescued me from my grave.  Thank you Tebow for sharing to others that JESUS rescues us and we can be winners with HIM.  Denise

Hebrew 12:1-2 is an oft quoted passage ans certainly the one Tim was referring to. There was a dash between the 1 and 2

People it is Heb 12:1-2.  Read Hebrews 11 and it will make sense.  The sin that "so easily entangles" is unbelief.  The author is telling those who are believers in Christ to consider Him and focus on He who is the author and perfecter of our faith.  He who knew that He was to be the propitiation of our sins, who vindicated the great wrath of God on sinners so that we may be set free and live Romans chapter 8.  The verse Tebow is quoting is Heb 12:1-2.

Disgracefull.....i wonder if he would have been allowed to have Darwin rocks under each eye....doubt it hes representing a state non religious school...shouldnt be allowed...anyway i guess jesus abandoned him for tonights game. He must prefer alabama

Carlos~ Maybe he did prefer Bama yesterday, but that does not change the fact that any player has the right to put on his body whatever he chooses. Regardless of school or of it being a state non religious. Hernandez has both his arms sleeved out as well as countless other college players. I would rather see "role models" write on their eye makeup than be covered in tattoos. Tebow was not the first to write on his eye makeup and he sure won't be the last. As for the darwin rocks, I'm sure they would let them put the patches in any shape they choose. It's called freedom of expression and they all have it. Or they would make they boys cover those tats....

Right on!!!!It is to everyone's detriment when a nation walks away from its foundational principles and begins to despise its very origin. This country was founded on principles of the Great Reformation which is so clearly reflected by writings of the founding fathers, and so obviously set forth in the Constitution of these God given United States. These principles for a good two hundred years have been blessed by God and made this nation great!Let's not loose them altogether, by continously biting the Hand that feeds us!
