Tomas Vokoun suffered one of the strangest injuries of the year. The Florida Panthers goalie had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher after he was hit in the head by the stick of teammate Keith Ballard during the first period of the Monday night's Florida Panthers-Atlanta Thrashers game.

After a goal by Atlanta Thrashers forward Ilya Kovalchuk, Keith Ballard angrily swung his stick, presumably to smash it against the goalpost. Instead, Keith Ballard hit Tomas Vokoun square in the head. Vokoun fell to the ice grabbing his head and was eventually carried off the ice on a stretcher.

Tomas Vokoun reportedly suffered a laceration to his ear and was taken to hospital.
