The Top 3 2010 NBA Draft team cities the Washington Wizards, New Jersey Nets (will play in Newark for the 2010-11 season), and Philadelphia 76ers all proclaimed June as NBHHCM 2010 (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month).

NBHHCM 2010 was proclaimed by many of the major east-coast cities ranging from Boston-to-Atlanta.

The host city to the 2010 NBA Draft, New York also proclaimed June as the hoops and hip-hop culture celebration month.

Madison Square Garden, New York the mecca to basketball, and the home to the NBA Draft each season made history last night with number 1 overall pick John Wall from the University of Kentucky. Wall became the first player from UK to be selected number 1 overall.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Evan Turner from Ohio State with the 2nd pick. The New Jersey Nets took super athletic big-man Derrick Favors with the 3rd pick.

Sam Bowie the 7ft. former star center from Kentucky was the 2nd pick of the 1984 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers in front of Michael Jordan who was the 3rd pick. The Bowie pick over Jordan is considered the worst draft day selection in NBA history. Jordan became the best ever to lace-up the sneakers, and Bowie was an injury-prone bust.

1984 was also the birth-year of the hoops and hip-hop culture fusion that is known today as The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America. Jamal Mashburn the former NBA all-star from (UK) was the 4th overall pick in 1993 NBA Draft.

NBHHCM Founder, Derrick E. Vaughan met Kentucky coach John Calipari last evening at the 2010 NBA Draft and presented him a copy of the NYC Proclamation for NBHHCM 2010. Vaughan says, 'Calipari is very cool and easy to talk to. He can relate to the hoops and hip-hop culture recruits. I see why the top players want to play for him.'

The University of Kentucky made history again by becoming the first University to have 5 players selected in the first-round of the NBA Draft.

#1-John Wall, #4-DeMarcus Cousins, #14-Patrick Patterson, #18-Eric Bledsoe, #29-Daniel Orton.
