Most sports fans won't admit it, but just about every one of us has some item--be it a ratty baseball hat, tacky turtleneck, or useless coffee mug--that we bought just because it has our favorite team's logo on it. It's part of the price you have to pay for being a sports fans.

Of course, if you pick your spots, you can still support your favorite team without looking like a doofus. Here are five ideas for holiday gifts for the sports fans:

1. Yao Ming Transformer  At first, you might think this is just another toy basketball. But, as that old jingle goes, there is more than meets the eye. Open up the plastic ball and instead of finding a robot in disguise, you'll find Houston Rockets center Yao Ming. A gift that appeals to the 10-year-old in all of us.

2. Finisher Bags The fine folks over at No Mas have come up with these brilliant Finisher bags, which are made out of old vintage 80s Starter jackets. Bound to bring back memories for anyone who has has every wished they rocked an old-school L.A. Raiders Starter jacket like Ice Cube did back when he was a bad-ass. While you're there, check out No Mas' excellent line of vintage sports t-shirts.

3. Vintage Leather Football Helmets Like most football fans, you've probably said to yourself, "I wish I could look more like Red Grange." Well, your prayers have been answered as Past Time Sports sells replica leather football helmets that harken back to the days when men didn't worry about such prissy things as concussions and permanent memory loss.

4. Nike Zoom Lebron VI: "Big Apple" Version Every year, LeBron James wears a special pair of sneakers when the Cleveland Cavaliers play the New York Knicks. This year, LBJ rocked a pair of red-and-concrete high-tops that were meant to represent his love of the Big Apple. If you can your hands on a pair, give them to the sneaker junkie in your life and he will be grateful.

5. Major League Caskets No one wants to think of the great beyond. But let's face it, everyone of us is going to need a casket. Eternal Image creates caskets featuring the logos of every Major League baseball team. If your loved one prefers to be cremated, you can even get a Major League urn, complete with a baseball-shaped lid.  Don't believe there is a market for this stuff? Check out the funeral of this Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
