Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari will become the youngest driver in Formula 1 history, when he moves in to replace resigning Sebastien Burdais. The 19-year-old starts his F1 career in Hungarian Grand Prix on July 26.

Alguersuari is British Formula 3 champion from the year 2008, which gives him the FIA Super License automatically. The youngster was picked from Toro Rosso's young driver programme by team principal Franz Tost. On this season Alguersuari drove in the World Series by Renault series, which has given a running start for some current F1 drivers, including Fernando Alonso, Robert Kubica, and Heikki Kovalainen.

"I do not expect anything from him for at least his first three races, during which he has to get used to the car, the team and to the F1 environment.", said Franz Tost to BBC News.

Recently-dismissed Burdais scored six points in 27 grands prix, but he is now threating the team with legal actions against for a breach of contract.
