Tour de France Stage 18 Contador the Fastest
Alberto Contador(Astana) finished the time trial around Lake Annecy with the fastest elapsed time. The yellow jersey holder edged out Fabian Cancellara(Saxo Bank) who held best time until the last rider. Third best time trial was ridden by Mikail Ignatiev(Katusha).
Lance Armstrong(Astana) completed the 40 km route in a time short enough to move him back in third place in the overall standings. Bradley Wiggins(Garmin) started out with a scorching time, but faded slightly at the end.
The overall standings of the Tour have changed again.

3. Lance Armstrong(Astana) 5:25+
4. Bradley Wiggins(Garmin) 5:36+
5. Andreas Kloden(Astana) 5:38+
Tour veteran George Hincapie(Columbia) fell yesterday and was riding hurt today. He was reputed to have a possible broken collarbone but refused x-rays because if they showed a break he would be forced to withdraw. This is his 14th Tour.
Stage 19 of the Tour is Bourgoin-Jallieu to Aubenas of 178 km in mountains.
