A team of Afghan cyclists on Saturday reached Peshawar, capital of Pakistan's restive North West Frontier Province, for participation in the 15th Tour de Pakistan Cycle Race from Peshawar to Karachi commencing on March 1.
PESHAWAR: A team of Afghan cyclists has reached here on Saturday to participate in the 15th Tour de Pakistan cycle race scheduled to begin from Khyber Road here on March 1.On reaching Peshawar via Torkham, the eight-member Afghanistan team was welcomed by Syed Azhar Ali Shah, president of Sarhad Cyclists Association. The Afghan team includes five cyclists and three officials.The Afghan team will participate in the Tour de Pakistan cycle race to be inaugurated by Governor of North West Frontier Province of Pakistan Owais Ahmed Ghani. The cycle race will conclude on March 13 at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi after going through 11 stages.Meanwhile, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and Iran have regretted to take part in the Tour de Pakistan cycle race reportedly because of the security concerns.
