NP Rank:
Tyson Gay Beats Usain Bolt Video: DN Galan Race At Stockholm
Usain Bolt Loses To Tyson Gay, 100 m Race At Exhibition Meet - Usain Bolt Nagging Injury? (video)
American track and field fans are likely celebrating American Tyson's Gay victory (a first for Gay) over world champion and world record holder Usain Bolt during the 100 metres race in Stockholm during the DG Galan meet.
The final margin was almost as surprising as the order of finish: Gay crossed the tape in a 9.84 compared to a 9.97 for the three-time Olympic gold medalist. The American took advantage of Bolt's slowness out of the blocks in taking an early lead and then held him off down the stretch for an easy victory
And while Gay should be applauded for running a good race, track and field observers say too much should not be read into Gay beating Bolt. First Bolt is still recovering from a injury he suffered during an unusual 300m race earlier in the year.
Second, Bolt clearly pulled up in the final seconds as it was an exhibition race with Bolt apparently getting $250,000 just to show up.
Tyson is a great runner but he has a way to go before he can take the world number one ranking away from Usain Bolt.
