The entire Olympic world was set alight and is still buzzing from Sunday's sensational game in which the American team dominated the game, despite a brave attempt from China.

U.S.A. vs CHINA  Basketball Olympic Preliminaries: has caused intense excitement with ONE BILLION expected to have tuned in on television.  Half Time Score 49-37 ; FULL TIME 101 - 70 in resounding US win, who are favourites to win the gold medal in the  event.

Yao Ming of China was injured towards the end, and his team, although brave, were a little diffident in the rebound.  The American Dreamteam played with confidence and arrogance to the point of committing rather too many fouls, which the Chinese took full advantage of.

The American class showed in the end and LeBron James in great form.

To the great excitement of the crowd, the Chinese led 11-7 after four minutes and even though the US were ahead 20-16 at the end of the first quarter, the hosts battled to level at 29-29.

The Americans missed a string of three-point attempts and limped to a lead of 49-37 at half-time.

However, they drew away with 25 points in the third quarter as the Chinese tired.

Defending champions Argentina stumbled to a 79-75 loss to Lithuania despite 19 points from San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobli.

European champions Russia beat Iran 71-49 while Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points as Germany overwhelmed Angola 95-66.
