UL-Lafayette Football Players Busted For Marijuana Cultivation
Four College Football Players Were Busted For Growing Marijuana. Devon Lewis-Buchanan, Blaine Gautier, Rodney Gillis and Chris Richard Could Face Serious Jail Time
Just day before 4/20, four University of Louisiana-Lafayette football players were busted for the cultivation of marijuana. Junior linebacker Devon Lewis-Buchanan, sophomore quarterback Blaine Gautier, sophomore cornerback Rodney Gillis and junior safety Chris Richard were arrested and could face some serious jail time if convicted.
According to Louisiana law, penalties for cultivation or selling or possession with intent to distribute less than 60 pounds of marijuana include five to 30 years in prison and/or a $50,000 fine. For 60 pounds up to 2,000 pounds it's a fine of $50,000-$100,000.
The UL-Lafayette football team released the following statement:
Blaine Gautier, Rodney Gillis, Devon Lewis-Buchanan and Chris Richard have been suspended indefinitely from the football team pending a thorough review of the facts by the Athletic Department. The Athletic Department will have no further comment until the review has been finalized.
