Violence broke on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus following the New England Patriots' loss at the 2012 Super Bowl.

One report referred to the UMass violence as a "much-predicted riot" that occurred outside Southwest Residential Area.

Thirteen students one non-student were arrested in connection with the UMass Super Bowl riot.

Crowds on the Amherst campus were heard chanting "USA! USA! USA!" and throwing beer cans.
