United States beats Spain 2-0 in Confederation Cup South Africa
The United States accomplished the impossible today. With sheer fight and determination, the United States Soccer team came out to play. In a nailbiting match for most of the 90 minutes Dempsey sealed the fate for Spain with 17 minutes left to go when he scored goal number 2.
The first goal was scored by Jozey Altidore with 17 minutes into the match. Although Spain dominated in ball possession throughout the match they were unable to get past the American defence.
The match was blemished by Michael Bradley receiving a red card with 4 minutes left to go. This left the US with only 10 players to complete the match.
The win places the US into the final against the winner of the Brazil - South Africa match in the final. The second semi-final will be played tomorrow.
Brazil is the clear favourite to win the tournament.
The Confederation Cup is played every four years. The tournament matches the winners of each of the FIFA regions and the host.

It was an entertaining game Amy. The US side had a great defence, but was also able to take advantage of openings in the Spanish Defence. A great effort with a bit of luck, the win was well deserved though.
