The University of South Alabama had its 50thAnniversary Homecoming weekend that started on Thursday October 18, 2012.
This year's theme for the 50thAnniversary Homecoming weekend is "Our Time is Now."
On Thursday October 18, 2012 a dedication of the new murals at the Moulton Tower and Alumni Plaza was held on the University of South Alabama campus.
Engine 22 and crew of the Mobile Fire Rescue Department was a part of the 50th Anniversary homecoming weekend celebration.
Engine 22 with its captain and crew showed up at the campus administration building parking lot at 6:00pm on 10/19/12 for the special assignment to ride in the Homecoming parade.
The Friday October 19, 2012 event honored new lifetime members of the USA National Alumni Association, followed by the Homecoming parade, pep rally, fireworks, and music.
The band members along with parade floats, students, and facility began to show up around 5:30pm and gather in the administration building parking lot.
After an hour and a half of waiting the homecoming parade got started at 7:30pm and began to roll in the direction of the Mitchell Center by the track and field.
After the parade stopped near the Mitchell Center the driver of engine 22 positioned the truck by the track and field where the fireworks were to be set off.
The crew of engine 22 stood by and watched while the fireworks were being shot off into the air to ensure no sparks from the fireworks ignited the grass around the track and field.
The firework began about 8:00pm and was over before 8:45pm and engine 22 and its crew headed back the fire station hoping to have a good quite night with no emergency runs during the night.
