US Ends First Day of Ryder Cup With Healthy Lead

The US team at the Ryder Cup took a commanding 5 1/2 to 2 1/2 lead against their European counterparts. 

Here are the results from Friday afternoon's pairings:

 -Phil Mickelson and Anthony Kim defeated Padraig Harrington and Graeme McDowell 2 Up

-Europe's Ian Poulter and Justin Rose beat Steve Stricker and Ben Curtis 4 and 2 

-Justin Leonard and Hunter Mahan over Europe's Sergio Garcia and Miguel Angel Jimenez

-Lee Westwood and Soren Hanson of Europe halved with Americans J.B. Holmes and Boo Weekley
