FIFA 2010: United States Preliminary World Cup Roster: Charlie Davies and Freddy Adu Not On The Team

United States World Cup Soccer coach Bob Bradley submitted his preliminary roster for the men's team to FIFA on Tuesday and team hopeful Charlie Davies was not on the 30 man squad.

Take The FIFA World Cup 2010 Poll

Charlie Davies who plays for Sochaux FC in France hoped to make the US soccer team after suffering serious injuries in a October 2009 car crash.

Charlie Davies' Twitter post said it was a "very sad day" but he Tweeted that he will be back stronger than ever and he wished the US soccer team a successful world cup tournament

Congrats to the guys who have made the WC Squad. I wish them nothing but the best! They have my full support!!! I'm rooting them on!!!!

For US soccer coach Bob Bradley it was tough decision to leave Charlie Davies off the preliminary squad.

Davies, whose speed during World Cup qualifying and FIFA Confederations Cup had given the U.S. a dimension it has sorely lacked until last year, had remained in consideration until yesterday. Sochaux, however, had not given its full medical clearance for the forward to play.

"Charlie has shown so much heart in his work to get back from his injuries," Bradley said. "We've monitored all his workouts.

"We felt it was in his best interests to continue his rehab ... So he can get back to the level that he was playing last year before the accident."

One time teenage soccer star Freddy Adu also did not make the US soccer preliminary roster.

The US soccer team will have to cut its current 30 man team to 23 players by June 1 when all the 32 World Cup teams will have to submit their final rosters.

The US soccer team World Cup training camp is in Princeton and will be in a group consisting of England, Algeria, and Slovenia for the tournament which kicks off in South Africa in June.
