The Hart Hill Usain Bolt Homecoming celebration is to be held in Usain Bolt' s hometown of Sherwood Content in Trelawny on Saturday September 20. National Meats/Hart Hill has come forward to help the people of Sherwood Content show their gratitude and admiration for triple Olympic gold medallist and local son, Usain Bolt. The homecoming celebration will serve as Trelawny's ode to Bolt's amazing performance in the recently concluded Beijing Games in China.
Usain Bolt himself will be there and will be sharing this special moment with his friends and family.
"I am very happy to have the chance to celebrate with my friends and family in Sherwood Content. Because of my busy schedule I have not been able to go back to Sherwood and Lyme with the people I grew up with so this will be a grand opportunity to do so". – Usain Bolt, Jamaican Olympic Track Star.
The Hart Hill Usain Bolt Homecoming celebrations will commence with a fun day at the Waldensia Primary School where Usain's talent was first discovered. The tempo of the celebration will then step up a notch with a concert to be hosted by Candice Buchanan at the Sherwood Content Community Centre beginning at 8pm.
The concert will boast some of Jamaica's top Gospel, Reggae and Dancehall acts including international reggae superstar Shaggy, the indomitable crowd pleaser Beenie man, roots specialist Richie Spice, Tanya Stephens, Voice Mail, RDX, Timberlee and Wayne Marshall to name a few.
Dancehall upcoming stars D'Angel, Bugle, and Terror 3000 have also been added to the line-up as well as rising star Tifa. Sound Systems are not being left out as Code Red, Coppershot and DJ Nico are some of the acts confirmed by event promoter Mario Lazarre Jr, CEO of No Joke Entertainment.
"Artistes have rearranged there schedules to be able to attend and we are getting calls everyday from more artistes who want to be a part of this celebration. We are right on schedule and come September 20 Sherwood Content will be the place to be". Stated Mario.
Dancing will also be a showcase at the event; a favourite past time of Usain Bolt who claimed additional fame for himself showcasing of his dancing skills after every victory at the Bejing Summer Olympics. This time however the dancing will be from the likes of Ice, Ding Dong and Kreggy Dread.
The Hart Hill Usain Bolt Homecoming Celebration will be a grand affair and the international media is already lining up to land in Jamaican for a close-up intimate meet and greet with the great Bolt in is own home town.
On Monday evening, Prime Minister Bruce Golding and hundreds of Jamaicans welcomed triple Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt home on Monday after his triumphs in Beijing.
"We're planning some great things for Usain and the other members of the Jamaican team who made us so proud at the Beijing Olympics," Golding said.
Hundreds of flag-waving Jamaicans waited along the road outside the airport hoping to get a glimpse of Bolt as he was taken by a convertible in a motorcade to a hotel where he will hold a news conference.
"I am happy to be back home. I expected some amount of support but I never knew that so many people would be here to meet me," Bolt told Reuters before his motorcade departed the airport.
Asked what he would be doing now, Bolt said "I really, really don't know."
Bolt broke the world records for the 100 meters the 200 meters and was then a member of the 4x100 meters world record-breaking relay quartet at the 2008 staging of the Olympics.
