USC football fans continue to wait for news on the fate of running back Stafon Johnson. Yesterday, the USC running back suffered a serious injury while  weightlifting. Stafon Johnson was bench-pressing with a spotter in Heritage Hall's weight room when the bar slipped out of his hand and fell onto his throat.

Johnson was rushed to emergency after the accident and surgery was performed on his crushed neck and larynx. Johnson ended up on the surgeon's table for a total of seven hours. Medical staff noted that a less muscular man may have survived such an accident as Johnson's neck muscles helped protect him.

Today, doctors are upbeat, saying that they believe that Johnson will make a full recovery. Doctors also said that Stafon Johnson is awake and able to communicate non-verbally. He reportedly gave his mother a thumbs up sign and communicating in writing to her as well as his teammates.
