FRESNO (May 17, 2010) - The USFbA is extremely pleased to announce the first ever insurance policy for floorball players and event organizers in the US.
Through our partnership with the AAU, the largest sports insurance group in the United States, everyone involved in floorball can continue their local development more securely thanks to improved protection.
As of April 12, 2010, all players are required to be insured by the AAU to participate in any USFbA sanctioned tournament or competition.
AAU has recognized floorball as an approved amateur sport in the US. This is the first official recognition of floorball made by any individual organization in North America.
This is a crucial corner stone in the history of floorball in the United States and will ensure the continuation of the game in this country. From now on, players and organizers enjoy complete insurance coverage.
James Baker, the AAU Sports Director, acknowledged floorball as a fast-paced, growing sport in the US. He is looking forward to watching the first American Floorball Championship, sanctioned by the AAU, in Huntington Beach, CA, later this year.
The California Cup in Fresno was the first tournament in the US to implement the AAU Insurance. It is now standard procedure for any tournament wanting to move in the right direction.
