UT's Pat Summitt goes for 1,000th win

KNOXVILLE — The office is very small, unfussy.

It lacks any hint of pretentiousness.

There's an old clock radio, two small trophy cases, family photos in Dollar General frames. The desk? Sears probably discontinued it two decades ago.

But it all makes sense. Pat Summitt could fill this room with a thousand mementos, or a wing in a hall of fame, but she doesn't. That is one reason the Tennessee women's basketball coach is on the brink of her 1,000th college victory.

The first shot at that win comes tonight when the Lady Vols face No. 2 Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.
