Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Round-Up Day 16 More Than The Games

Well today is day 17 of the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, the end of an amazing run for Canada as a host and for the games itself.  Yes there were some devastating tragedies and weather blemishes, despite that I am sure many others feel a content sense of pride in these games.   There is one thing that really is quite a disappointment for me personally during these games and it is this.  I am not sure of how other major Canadian Cities show of support for other major sporting events such as the World Cup of Soccer,  the Super Bowl , Major League Baseball, the NBA or the Stanley Cup Finals is conducted here in Toronto, Canada it is usually with honking of car horns along with cheering fans convening in cultural hot spots within the city to celebrate their country or teams's victory.  A complete display of pride and heritage.

The show of pride and heritage for our Canadian athletes seems to be a silent and conserved one here in Toronto,  a total polar opposite from what I described above.  Winning a medal of any colour is something that deserves notice across the country I believe. Canada has not only won a gold medal but a Winter Olympic games record 14 and an all time Winter Olympic individual Nation record as well as a Host Nation record to match  tonight when Canada defeated the United States 3-2 in the Gold Medal game in Hockey.   A game that was watched by a record number of viewers I am sure no doubt.

On the way home from the gym this afternoon I honked my horn and was proud to show support for our athletes let's honk , holler cheer and celebrate as Canadians or which ever country you are from these games in my opinion were a great example and display of sportsmanship and overall human excellence. So come on Canada,  honk your horns from coast to coast so the world can hear us.

 Onto London 2012  we go.
