Norway's Tora Berger is in Gold Medal position as the contestants reach the final lap in the Vancouver 2010 Women's15km Individual Biathlon. Three penalties have conspired to deny Magdalena Neuner a spot on the podium, placing her in 10th place. Slovakia's Anastazia Kuzmina slipped to 39th after 5 penalties. Fan favorite Andrea Henkel placed 6th with time of 42:32.4 and 2 penalties.
- Tora Berger (NOR): Gold Medal
- Elena Khrustaleva (KAZ): Silver Medal
- Dary Dormracheva (BEL): Bronze Medal
Today the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Women's Biathlon action continues with the 15km individual, and we're providing live Twitter coverage via Scan. Germany's Magdalena Neuner is kicking some serious ass, with gold in the 10km pursuit and silver in the 7.5km sprint- can she continue her winning streak with a medal in the 15km Individual? Not if Slovakian Anastazia Kuzmina has anything to say about it. Both Magdalena Neuner and Anastazia Kuzmina have legit shot at becoming triple medalists.
These two have been owning the podium so far, with France coming up third, with Marie Dorin taking Bronze in the sprint and Marie Laure Brunet taking Bronze in the pursuit.
Americans will be cheering for Sara Studebaker, Haley Johnson, Lanny Barnes, and Laura Spector. Canadians will be making some noise for Zina Kocher, Megan Tandy, Rosanna Crawford, and Megan Imrie.
These athletes will be cross-country skiing five laps of a 4km course, with four bouts of shooting (two prone, two standing) at five targets, placed 50m down a shooting rage. Those targets are small, by the way: the centre area is roughly the size of a golf ball. Each missed target will fadd one minute to the competitor's overall time.
The action starts at 10:20am PST/1:20pm EST.
