The final results are as follows:
Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse - CANADA - Gold
Helen Upperton and Shelley-Ann Brown - CANADA - Silver
Erin Pac and Elana Meyers - UNITED STATES - Bronze
The team from Great Britain, Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke, suffered a crash in Heat 3 according to ESPN and although it looked like their injuries might be serious, both did get up and walk away. Their crash dashed any hopes of a medal for the team.
But both driver and brakeman were able to climb out straight away with the assistance of course stewards, meaning the biggest damage is likely emotional with the pair failing to live up to expectations even prior to the accident.
Cathleen Martini and Romy Logsch from Germany also suffered a crash on the track and were disqualified from the event in Heat 3.
