Vitali Klitschko Plans to Retire after Haye Fight in 2010
Vitali Klitschko says he plans to retire from boxing in 2010, perhaps after a world title unification bout against David Hayes. Klitschko, 38, says he has achieved everything he wanted to do in boxing, and has no reason to keep fighting.
"I only have to win one belt. So this year I will hang up my boxing gloves. And I'll stop visiting different cities to beat somebody's face in," Vitali said.
The always articulate Klitschko may mean that he only needs one more belt (WBA) for he and his brother Wladmir to own all titles in the heavyweight division. So a fight with David "Hayemaker" Haye could be just the fight for Vitali to go out on.
Haye has been outspoken in his desire to fight one of the Vitali brothers, and might get his chance after a mandatory defence of his WBA belt against John Ruiz on April 3.
