Both teams played good hockey through two periods of play keeping the score very close. Both goalies made errors in judgement that lead to goals by the opposing team. In the end it was the Buffalo Sabres that came up winners scoring three goals in the third period for a final score of 5-3.

The Capitals had one three games in a row coming into tonight's game. The win for Buffalo pushed them over .500 at 15-14-1.

"For whatever reason, we didn't have that sense of urgency," said Capital's Interim Coach Bruce Boudreau. "I didn't think we had 19 players playing their capabilities tonight."
