Some trivia about the Airtel Indian GP: Greater Noida will take the honor to have first Formula One GP in India and Airtel is the title sponsor for the Indian Grand Prix and for obvious reasons the GP race is named Airtel Indian Grand Prix scheduled for October 30,2011. The Buddh International Circuit is the track for the Indian GP Formula One race designed by Hermann Tike. The circuit is 5.137 kms long with the racers having to take 60 laps. Hero Moto Corp is sponsoring Indian F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan at the Airtel Indian GP and Mercedes Benz is the automotive partner for the GP race. Millions of Indian F1 fans hoped to see their racer Karun Chandok returning to the cockpit alongside Lotus teammate Heikki Kovalainen, but the team has confirmed that Karun will not race as much as they would like to owing to driver’s poor experience of driving in dry conditions. Team Lotus also confirmed that Jarno Trulli will be returning to Buddh International Circuit to join Heikki.
