Everyone dissed Wayne Rooney after a lackluster performance in the 2010 World Cup, but Rooney reminded the Premiership of exactly why he belongs there.

Wayne Rooney nailed a spectacular bicycle kick from a pass by Nani in the 78th minute, bringing Manchester United to 2-1 over Man City. The video captures the astonishing goal, and we see Rooney exulting in the cheers erupting at Old Trafford, just knowing that his stock is rising again.

Nani, deep on the right, bends a cross towards Rooney, round about the penalty spot with his back to goal and Kompany his nemesis slipping to his left. He goes for the the bicycle kick and pulls it off stupendously, connecting cleanly and sending the ball past the forlorn Hart into the top corner. Rooney spreads his arms wide in celebration and seems to grow in stature as he bathes in the noise.
