Welkah's An Angel

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker was penalized for making a snow angel after scoring a touchdown during the Pats 47-7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

As a blizzard blanketed Gillette Stadium with snow, Welker caught an 11-yard touchdown pass late from QB Matt Cassel. Welker decided to take advantage of the conditions for his celebration: he hopped on the ground, got on his back and made a snow angel.

While children across North America are no doubt making snow angels during this year's cold snap, the NFL thinks that lying on the ground and flapping your arms and legs isn't appropriate behavior for a football player. During Welker's snow angel celebration, referees quickly threw up a yellow flag and charged the Patriots with a 15-yard for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Welker's snow angel celebration reminded Patriot's fans of long snapper Lonnie Paxton, who celebrated with a snow angel after the Patriots defeated the Oakland Raiders in a classic 2001 AFC title game.

I guess that's one victory dance that's not allowed - too bad you can't take advantage of the snow like that.

well in my opinion.  WAY TO GO WELKER!

Sorry but the Refs need to loosen the rules just a tad bit.

there is nothing wrong with makin a snow angel in celebration of a touchdown.

it would be different if he was flagged for throwing a snowball at a cardinals player.

Goodness, I think some have to lighten up a little.

They need limits on celebrations but also need to use common sense.
