Violence Outside West Ham's Ground - VIDEO

West Ham played Millwall today at Upton Park in East London, and the match led to some 'planned' violence between the fans, where one man was stabbed and two people were arrested.

Over 100 fans attacked each other outside, and had always planned to; the violence appeared to be the cause of people without tickets to the game. One report suggested that some fans had been throwing bricks and missiles at one another, and police called in reinforcements. The violence lasted for several hours, and police dressed in riot gear could be seen outside the stadium on the streets.

The police spokesman said: "There has been some trouble and disorder from Millwall and West Ham fans – officers are reacting to the violence."

He added that the arrests were made for disorder and breaches of banning orders outside the Carling Cup match at West Ham's ground.

There are also reports that some fans were ambushed outside the Upton Park tube station by rival supporters.

Two arrests were made, and one man was stabbed in Priory Road near the stadium. He is in stable condition in hospital.

Inside the stadium some fans also attacked the rival fans and some even made it on to the pitch.

The game finished 1-1.

Thanks for uploading the story.

Were the fans drinking?

I went to a Millwall match a few weeks ago and fans were boozing and buying drinks well before the match, and yet they were allowed in the stadium (though they had to remove their drinks). I find there is more trouble if they drink before hand.

How many women were involved? Were the fans men or both?
