West Memphis Three: Johnny Depp Defends WM3 in "48 Hours Mystery"
Actor Johnny Depp is set to appear on CBS's "48 Hours Mystery" to defend West Memphis Three, who were convicted for the murder of three eight-year-old boys in 1994.
In the "48 Hours Mystery" episode, Johnny Depp says the trial of West Memphis Three focused too much on the teen's fascination with heavy-metal and Stephen King. The episode claims the police misplaced DNA samples.
Johnny Depp said, "I firmly believe Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley are totally innocent. It was a need for swift justice to placate the community."
Damien Echols is on death row. Jessie Misskelley were sentenced to life in prison plus 40 years. Jason Baldwin was sentenced to life in prison.
In 1993, three 8-year-old boys, Steve Branch, Christopher Byers, and Michael Moore went missing and later found dead.
