NP Rank:
Will Tim Tebow play or won't he?
Tim Tebow will be a game time decision to play in what will be the biggest college football game of the week, between the No. 1 Florida Gators and the No. 4 LSU Tigers. Tebow has not played since suffering a concussion two weeks ago in a game in against Kentucky.
However, it looks like the chances of him playing in the game are slim. Because Tebow is only two weeks removed from his concussion, he may not have fully recovered from the injury and be back to 100%. Head injuries are especially tough for doctors to diagnose because patients may feel absolutely fantastic one day, but drop back into a daze the very next. Florida head coach Urban Meyer has stated that "he will err on the side of caution in his decision to play Tebow." Let's hope for Tebow's sake that Meyer is sincere in his concern about protecting Tebow and being cautious.
It's easy to understand why Tebow would want so badly to play in Saturday's game because it has such major ramifications on the BCS and the national championship. Both Florida and LSU need to win this game if they are serious about winning it all. Tebow's a guy who wants to win so badly that he will want to play whether he's hurt or not. In his case, it is probably best for Tebow to sit out for one or more weeks until he can say for sure that he has sustained a prolonged period of feeling 100% without experiencing any setbacks.
But UF coach Urban Meyer said that even if Tebow is cleared, he will err on the side of caution in his decision to play Tebow. It likely will be a game-time decision.
