World Cup Qualifier: England 5-1 Kazakhstan
Three out of three so far for England, but this game despite the scoreline was not as comfortable as Cappello would have like it, the first half very poor with an appauling error by Ashley Cole leading to Kazakhstan's goal. David Beckham equalled Bobby Charltons 106 England caps, but surely his days now are numbered. England have come out of this looking good at the top of the group, but there's a long way to go and on performances like this there's work to be done to get to the finals, maybe the players wearing Borats green thong might help...
England made it three wins out of three in their World Cup qualifying campaign with a fine second-half display against Kazakhstan.
After a poor first half Rio Ferdinand, captain in the absence of the injured John Terry, nodded in a corner, before Alexandr Kuchma headed into his own net.
Zhambyl Kukeyev fired one back after an Ashley Cole mistake before Wayne Rooney headed in a Wes Brown cross and then tapped in after a David Beckham free-kick.
Jermain Defoe finished off the scoring with a late, low finish.

Thanks for the round-up!
I posted a piece earlier that would fit with this story (I'm not shamelessly promoting my piece I promise!)

agdobson, I like this story. It's good stuff. Wll the fans did boo - they booed Ashley Cole after his mistake that led to the goal - depite Capello's pleas not to boo . But 5-1 is a good score. As to Beckham being finished - I'm not so sure - when he came on his crossing of the ball led to two goals and there could have been more - he looked pretty good.

Don't get me wrong, Beckham is the best dead ball specialist there is, and he has something to contribute, but he's not playing top class football anymore (Eddie Lewis is at Galaxy and he played for Leeds!) and for me I don't know why he's on the England squad, look at Owen and he's got age on his side, Beckham won't see the finals.
