World Cup Qualifiers for 18-Nov-2009
Algeria 1-0 Egypt
The nation of Sudan played host to the bitter rivalry in World Cup history between Algeria and Egypt. It appeared that both teams were competing for domination but Antar Yahia scored a goal for Algeria within 39 minutes of the game with a free kick in the air and past the goalkeeper.
The ball reached the underside within the bar. Egypt attempted to recover but the beginning goalkeeper for Algeria Fawzi Chaouchi blocked all of the attempts by the Pharoahs [Egypt's National Team].
In the end, Algeria was able to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. This was the first time in 24 years that Algeria classified.
Greece 1-0 Ukraine
Greece faced the Ukraine in Donetsk with Dimitris Salpigidis scoring a goal after receiving the ball from teamate Georgios Samaras. Greece managed to squeak through the classification after the Ukraine made many mistakes in attempting an equalizer.
This is the first time since 1994 that Greece has qualified for the World Cup.
Bulgaria defeated Malta with a score of 4-1, Montenegro scored a victory over Belarus with a score of 1-0, Spain is winning against Austria 3-1 [although that may change], Italy is doing the same to Sweden with a score of 1-0.
Poland defeated Canada with a score of 1-0, Germany is defeating the Ivory Coast 1-0, and Serbia defeats South Korea 1-0. It must be remembered that Serbia and South Korea have classified for the 2010 World Cup.
