The World’s Most Prestigious Power Poll: Week 14
http://dcprosportsreport.com/?p=2039
There is only a month left in the regular season and the playoff scenarios are flying fast and furious. Only The World’s Most Prestigious Power Poll can make sense of it all. Lucky for you, it’s here.
01. New York Giants [11-1]: Wide receiver celebrates his team’s decisive win over a division rival by shooting himself in the leg. Only in the Big Apple, baby! [NC]
02. Tennessee Titans [11-1]: Has any 11-1 team ever gotten so little respect? [NC]
03. Pittsburgh Steelers [9-3]: The Steelers appear to be peaking at the right time. This is not the team you want to play in January.
04. Tampa Bay Buccaneers [9-3]: Their season may ride on the next two weeks, with road games at divison rivals Carolina and Atlanta. [+1]
05. Carolina Panthers [9-3]: They’re the top wild card team right now, but they’ll have to earn their way into the playoffs with games against Tampa Bay, and road matchups against the Giants and Saints left on their schedule. [+1]
06. Baltimore Ravens [8-4]: The knock against the Ravens is that they haven’t beaten any good teams, but with the Redskins, Steelers and Cowboys left on their schedule, they’ll have to end that talk to make the playoffs. [+1]
07. Indianapolis Colts [8-4]: When was the last time the Colts scored 10 points…and won? [+2]
08. Atlanta Falcons [8-4]: Mike Smith is the NFC Coach of the Year and his Falcons are the best 3rd place team in the NFL. [+2]
09. Dallas Cowboys [8-4]: I hope Dallas fans enjoyed the cupcake portion of their schedule because their remaining opponents are at Pittsburgh, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, at Philadelphia. Three of those 4 teams are ranked higher in The World’s Most Prestigious Power Poll than the Cowboys and I think Dallas will be lucky if they win 2 of those games. [+2]
10. New York Jets [8-4]: The 17-point loss to the Broncos should stop all that “Subway Super Bowl” crap coming from the NY media. [-7]
11. New England Patriots [7-5]: They could make the playoffs, but they’re one and done at best. [-3]
12. Miami Dolphins [7-5]: Maybe Bill Parcells can be a decent general manager. [+4]
13. Washington Redskins [7-5]: No Child Left Behind replaced with One Touchdown Per Week policy. [-1]
14. Philadelphia Eagles [6-5-1]: The most inconsistent team in the NFL. They are capable of playing to a 13-13 tie against the awful Bengals one week, and destroying the Cardinals by 28 points the next week. Will probably miss the playoffs, but are capable of beating any team on their schedule, including the Giants. [+3]
15. New Orleans Saints [6-6]: An historically great season from Drew Brees is being wasted by a lousy defense and the stain of steroid abuse. [NC]
16. Arizona Cardinals [7-5]: This team couldn’t win either division in the SEC, but they’ll win the NFC West. [-3]
17. Minnesota Vikings [7-5]: Let’s see how well they play without their ‘roided up defensive tackles. [+4]
18. Denver Broncos [7-5]: This team couldn’t win the South division of the Big 12, but they’ll win the AFC West. [+1]
19. Chicago Bears [6-6]: Here’s a bad sign for Bears fans: Your team has been outscored 71-17 in its last 2 NFC North division games. And the NFC North doesn’t have any good teams. [-5]
20. Green Bay Packers [5-7]: Defense has given up 86 points in last 2 games.
21. Houston Texans [5-7]: No NFL team has ever won 5 games in a season with a quarterback named Sage. [+4]
22. San Diego Chargers [4-8]: I’ve never seen an NFL team with this much talent fail so completely…since that 8-8 team Norv coached in Washington 8 years ago. [NC]
23. Jacksonville Jaguars [4-8]: Injuries have destroyed a promising season, but QB David Garrard has some questions to answer.
24. San Francisco 49ers [4-8]: Beat the Bills 10-3 in what must have been the most painful football game to watch in some time.
25. Cleveland Browns [4-8]: There is nothing wrong with this team that couldn’t be fixed by firing the coaching staff and replacing 75% of the players. Oh, and a new front office, too.
26. Buffalo Bills [6-6]: When has a team fallen so far, so fast? In October this team was in the top 5 in The World’s Most Prestigious Power Poll. Now, they can’t score more than 3 points on the 49ers defense. [-8]
27. Kansas City Chiefs [2-10]: If only they can schedule the Raiders more often. [+4]
28. Seattle Seahawks [2-10]: This team has quit on its coach, who is also quitting. [-1]
29. Oakland Raiders [3-9]: The Chargers are terrible. The 49ers are awful. The Raiders are pathetic. Los Angeles doesn’t even have an NFL team. USC is the closest thing this state has to a good pro football team. [-1]
30. Cincinnati Bengals [1-9-1]: It’s starting to look like this franchise exists merely to destroy the reputation of coaches. [-1]
31. St. Louis Rams [2-10]: Los Angeles is lucky this team moved away. [-1]
32. Detroit Lions [0-12]: This Ford company needs a federal bailout a lot more than that other Ford company. [NC]
