Former WWE wrestler Kurt Angle has said he will compete in MMA fights. Angle, who was an Olympic wrestler before joining the pro ranks, told a British newspaper that he will try his hand at mixed martial arts but still hopes to keep his current job with TNA Wrestling.

“I can almost guarantee you’re going to see me in the Octagon.

“Obviously I’m going to have to take a few months away from pro wrestling to get ready for that.

“But I welcome that, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and TNA have given me their best wishes.

“I’m 100%. A lot of people on the internet are bashing me but I’ve never felt better.”

Angle isn't the first pro wrestler to move from the theatrics of pro wrestling to the very real world of mixed martial arts. Earlier this year, forrmer WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar fought fought at a UFC 81 event, losing to former heavyweight champion Frank Mir.

Angle has yet to decide which of the many mixed marital arts organizations he will compete for. He claims to have garnered interest from industry-leading UFC as well as Pro Elite XC, Affliction, and the IFL.

This is me with Kurt Angle at Narita International Airport in Japan.
